Seen Martin play at Old Martha’s in Ayr across from the station about 40 years ago. He played for two hours and was flawless. I remember my friend saying “he played out of his skin” .
The best and most simple video on transcribing music imo - have been searching for one all over RUclips and found the perfect one he keeps it short & sweet This lesson applies not only to jazz but any song style
so the melody notes are priority and then maybe a few notes of the chords not the full chords is this the take away ? Gosh I wish I could play this good ugh Peace !
i remember watching him in a guitar club in birmingham england when he was 35 .. !!! HE HAD A PONY TAIL !! it was callled the the guitar club on a thursday night !! he came along as a guest and blew us all away !! he was amazing !!
Are you the same 'The Duke' who posted that ridiculous lie about an incident in a car park. Do you play guitar or simply troll this talented and generous musician?
Actually I suspect he simply hears it in his head. With Martin's teaching, he is succinct and directly to the point. What he says here as advice for playing chord melody is simply truth. Every word is gold.
He's one of my favourites but I honestly think Segovia was right when he said "the only thing more beautiful than one guitar is two guitars". Martin's style is to imitate two guitars and he is truly brilliant but he doesn't sound better than two guitarists (well, two "good" guitarists lol). Find a friend and play and you can make music
If you read his autobiography you’ll find out his reasoning behind playing chord melody playing. One was practical, given the nature of jazz and jazz musicians, the other was aesthetic
A master of 🎸. Such beautiful cultured playing. And he attempts too make it accessible too others. Great

THE DUKE. Knob end

Eagle Light fragments, usually 3rds and 7ths
Is it possible to get the Autumn Leaves Music sheet from Martin's play?

Where can I get the melody tab and chords?
Real Book
Is it possible to get the tab?
You don't need the tab because all you have to do is look at his fingering in the video

So give melody the priority, then put the chords on top? Thats what I think he's saying here..
Wie immer
You mean keep the melody on top like Chet Atkins did.
He sometimes looked bored playing that
He might have played it a few thousand times before
he is starting to make a lot of mistakes and he knows this !!! hes fooling himself with thi shit !! he was more advanced years ago !!sad indeed
